Listening to Nature Sounds is good for us!

Getting outdoors has a number of genuine benefits for our body, both mental well-being and spiritual well-being. But what do you do when you can't get outdoors and you want to feel some of nature's benefits? Let’s say you live in a city, have returned home from work and it has just gone 8 pm and is dark outside, or getting outdoors regularly is unlikely for a while...

Nature sounds can make you feel like you are out in the middle of a forest, or near a river. You can close your eyes and imagine you are in your favourite nature place from the comfort of your own home. The effect is amazingly relaxing. You know how you feel nice and sleepy when it rains? It’s a little like that. These sounds are very soothing, and you will feel better within 10-15 minutes of listening to the sounds of nature.

All you need is some time to let your brain rest, and these help you do exactly that!

Nature sounds are a great solution for sleepless nights and insomnia. The soothing sounds help block out external noises, and the repetition slowly lulls you to sleep and gives you a deeper sleep. Whether your problem is distractions, over-thinking, or restlessness, nature sounds can help you overcome them.

Further, nature sounds also create natural white noise. This is what you get when you combine all the different frequencies of sounds all together at once. This means that when you’re in a noisy place, the sound of rain falling or the ocean can mask many of the distracting frequencies. Although the sound of nature can fluctuate, it often changes in a slow and hypnotic manner,  leaving you to feel calm and relaxed.

Now, let’s quickly go over the Process!

Just pick a nature soundtrack you like, adjust the volume to suit you. Get into a comfortable position either in your bed, or chair, and then lie back and listen to the sounds.

Imagine the sounds as coming from around you. In other words, move yourself from your home or office to a forest, or beach, or riverside. In 10-15 minutes, you should start to feel better. You can listen to these natural sounds wherever you are, with the help of your phone and an internet connection.

Below are some nature sound videos to get you started. Relax and enjoy! You can also explore our large collection of nature recording on our YouTube channel and on all major streaming services (e.g., Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Deezer, etc.).
